Teenagers stage 'sandals on bridge' suicide hoax to evade theft charges

After stealing a motorbike, two teenagers left sandals and a suicide note on Thach Bich Bridge, prompting a widespread search.

Nghia Hanh Commune Police in Quang Ngai announced on the evening of 16/4 that a 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy fabricated the scene on the bridge, which included two pairs of sandals and a suicide note.

Earlier, residents exercising on Thach Bich Bridge noticed the sandals and letter, prompting them to stop. The note expressed the teenagers' regret for their "sins committed due to their love of play" and included contact information for relatives.

The Quang Ngai 0 Dong Rescue Team launched canoes to search the Tra Khuc River, but no victims were found. Following verification, police confirmed the two teenagers had faked a suicide, initiating a search for them.

By 8 PM, police arrested the 15-year-old girl. She confessed to the theft and admitted to staging the fake scene to evade legal punishment.
