On 30/7, the Khanh Hoa Province Traffic Police Department reported that during a patrol on Tran Phu Street in Nha Trang, officers stopped a group of teenagers on 4 motorbikes near the Tram Huong Tower. One motorbike was carrying 3 people, with the back passenger not wearing a helmet or shirt, waving a flag and shouting excitedly.
The teens explained they were celebrating the Vietnam U23 team's victory in the Southeast Asian U23 Championship.
Recognizing their behavior as a traffic safety hazard, the officers stopped them for inspection. The traffic police stated that the teens were young and lacked awareness of traffic safety. Instead of issuing fines, the officers gave them a direct warning about the dangers of traffic accidents. They then had the teens perform squats on the spot as a mild but effective deterrent.
"This measure helps them remember their violations while demonstrating the approachable and humane side of traffic police," a representative said. "It avoids putting undue pressure on first-time offenders acting impulsively."
