On 26/9, Dong Thap Provincial Police arrested Pham Thanh Son, a native of Lam Dong, for property theft. The arrest followed a report from his 45-year-old ex-wife, who discovered 75,000 CHF (Swiss franc) missing from her wardrobe.

The woman reported the theft to Long Thuan Ward Police on 9/9. Three days later, police apprehended Son.

During the investigation, Son admitted that he and the victim had divorced a few months prior. Driven by a gambling addiction, including card games and cockfighting, and aware of his ex-wife's substantial savings, he devised a plan to steal her assets.

Son confessed that after he took his ex-wife to depart for Switzerland, he returned to her home. He then took the 75,000 CHF from her wardrobe, exchanged it for Vietnamese Dong, and traveled to Cambodia to gamble at various cockfighting venues.
