Two teenagers with Japanese swords cause chaos on Da Nang streets

Tran Long and Phan Bao Khanh, both 17, were summoned by police after covering their motorbike license plate, carrying a katana, and speeding through many central streets.

The incident came to light after a video circulated on social media, showing the group riding a Suzuki Raider without fairings, swerving dangerously on Nguyen Luong Bang street, part of National Highway 1A, which runs through the city center.

In the clip, the passenger was seen swinging a katana back and forth in the dark, posing a significant danger to other road users.

Video of Long and Khanh speeding on a motorbike, holding a katana, circulated on social media.

On 22/4, the Da Nang City Police Criminal Investigation Department handed over two teenagers, Tran Long and Phan Bao Khanh, along with evidence, to Lien Chieu Ward Police for processing their act of public disorder.

During questioning at the police station, both teenagers admitted they had borrowed the sword and the motorbike. They used masks to conceal the license plate, intending to "find rivals" to settle a conflict that began in the early hours of 13/4. When patrol forces spotted them on Ton Duc Thang street, the group accelerated and fled through several areas before eventually hiding the weapon.

Police seized the involved motorbike and are expanding their investigation to prosecute any individuals who aided this act.
