Two young men lure four into golden triangle crime ring

Bui Ngoc Thanh An and Lo Vu Anh lured four compatriots to Laos with promises of 'easy, high-paying jobs', then sold them to a scam company for commission.

On 24/8, Nghe An Provincial Police criminally detained An, 20, from Muong Chon village, Binh Chuan commune, and Vu Anh, 29, from Na Ca village, Nga My commune. They are being investigated for human trafficking under Article 150 of the Penal Code.

The investigation revealed that in 2023, An and Vu Anh traveled to the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone in Bokeo province, Laos. They worked for an online scam company run by Chinese nationals. Their boss instructed them to recruit Vietnamese individuals to work in Laos, offering a commission of 4,000-5,000 Chinese Yuan (CNY), approximately 14-17 million VND, for each successful recruitment.

Subsequently, An and Vu Anh used social media to target ethnic minority residents in Nghe An's mountainous communes. They enticed these individuals to go to Laos, promising "computer work" that was easy and offered very high monthly salaries, amounting to tens of millions of VND.

Authorities allege that An lured three residents from Binh Chuan commune, while Vu Anh enticed one resident from Nga My commune. These individuals were then taken across the border into Laos, where they were handed over to the online scam company.

Recently, Binh Chuan Commune Police identified An and Vu Anh's suspected involvement in human trafficking, prompting a special investigation. In mid-August, both suspects were apprehended while working in Vietnam's northern provinces.

The investigation into the case is ongoing and being expanded.
