On 21/9, Nguyen Thi Chau, 58, residing in Thoi An Dong ward, was temporarily detained by Can Tho City Police. She faces charges of abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State and the legal rights and interests of organizations and individuals, under Article 331 of the Penal Code.

The case stems from a request for prosecution by the People's Court of Area 2, following posts on the Facebook account "Nguyen Thi Chau" that allegedly contained fabricated information, infringing upon the legal rights and interests of organizations and individuals.

According to investigators, Chau was a defendant in two civil cases involving credit contract disputes handled by the People's Court of Area 2, Can Tho City. During the trials, she reportedly disrupted public order in court and was subsequently summoned by Binh Thuy ward police for questioning.

Despite disagreeing with the case's outcome, Chau did not appeal. Instead, she used her personal Facebook account to publicly post false content about the incident and individuals involved.

During questioning by investigators, Chau admitted her actions. An assessment by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City concluded that the posts showed signs of infringing upon state interests and the legal rights and interests of organizations and individuals, negatively impacting social security and order.

Police searched Chau's residence, seizing documents, physical items, and electronic data relevant to the investigation.
