Cao Bang Provincial Police announced on 20/11 the arrest of Chao Mui Mui, 40, a wanted suspect from Na Lau hamlet, Ly Bon commune. She faces charges of human trafficking and trafficking of persons under 16. The arrest, made on 18/11, involved coordination with the Ministry of Public Security's Foreign Relations Department and the Soc Giang Border Gate Post.
According to police, Mui had illegally traveled abroad to China in 2012 to marry and reside there. In 4/2017, during a visit to her family, Mui repeatedly approached and offered false promises to entice several women she knew locally to join her in China.

Mui promised the victims stable jobs and good income in the neighboring country, gaining their trust. She then organized their illegal border crossing via a trail into China, where she sold them to a local woman. Among the victims was one who was just 14 years old. Once in China, the women were forced into prostitution and had their freedom restricted.
After managing to escape and return to Vietnam, the victims filed a complaint about Mui's criminal activities. However, Mui remained in China at that time, prompting the Cao Bang Provincial Police Investigation Agency to issue an arrest warrant for her.
On 18/11, following verification of intelligence, Cao Bang Police located Mui hiding in the Soc Giang border gate area and proceeded with her arrest.
