Linh took advantage of an employee's lapse in attention at a nail salon in Tan Binh village, Xuan Mai commune, to photograph the employee’s bank card information. She then linked her Shopee account to the card.
After successfully linking the card, Linh ordered an iPhone 16 Pro Max. The following morning, September 7, she returned to the nail salon, photographed the employee's ID card, and used the employee's phone to call the bank and change the ATM card's PIN.
Linh then stole the physical bank card from the victim's wallet and withdrew 8 million VND from an ATM.
Hanoi police advise people to take precautions and safeguard their personal phones, identification documents, and bank cards, preventing potential thieves from accessing and stealing their assets.
