My Hiep Commune Police are processing a case against a 28-year-old woman for filing a false report, an offense punishable by a fine of 3-4 million VND. The woman confessed that she fabricated the story after losing 10 million VND, fearing her husband's reaction. She intended to sell her gold bracelets to recover the money.
The incident was reported on 16/12, when the woman claimed that while returning home with her child from school on Rach Ong Dung road in My Long 3 hamlet, she was accosted by two youths on a motorbike. She alleged they forced her off her bike, assaulted her, and used a rock to hit her hand before stealing 8 gold bracelets and fleeing. This report initially caused concern among local residents.
However, the commune police's investigation quickly revealed inconsistencies. Officers examined the scene and reviewed camera footage from surrounding areas, finding no evidence to support the alleged robbery.
When confronted by police, the woman admitted to fabricating the entire account. She reiterated that her fear of her husband's anger over the lost 10 million VND prompted her to create the elaborate story, hoping to sell the gold as a cover-up.
