Earlier, the Economic Police Department inspected Ms. Thuy's household liquor business and discovered 103 plastic containers, each 30 liters, holding a cloudy white liquid.
Among these, nine containers held industrial alcohol, while 80 containers contained over 300 liters of mixed liquor ready for sale.
During questioning by police, Ms. Thuy admitted to buying high-concentration alcohol of unknown origin and mixing it with tap water to produce white liquor for sale to the public.
According to authorities, liquor mixed from alcohol of unknown origin or industrial alcohol can contain methanol, which causes poisoning.
Quang Ngai Provincial Police are continuing to investigate the case.
