Young man beaten, forced to write 400 million VND debt note

Ngo Duc Bao and two accomplices are accused of beating, threatening, and coercing a 22-year-old man into signing a 400 million VND debt note at a pawn shop.

Bao, 33, Hoang Anh Tuan, 40, both residing in Cam Xuyen commune, and Nguyen Xuan Phong, 24, residing in Cam Binh commune, have been indicted and temporarily detained on charges of property extortion, under Article 170, Clause 3 of the Penal Code.

The People's Procuracy Region 1 - Ha Tinh approved and announced these procedural decisions on 26/8.

According to initial investigation, a conflict led Bao, Tuan, and Phong to a pawn shop on Nguyen Bien street, Cam Xuyen commune, around 14h30 on 23/8. There, they beat and threatened a 22-year-old local man, forcing him to write a debt note for 400 million VND owed to Bao. The victim complied out of fear.

Upon learning that the young man reported their actions to authorities, Bao, Tuan, and Phong surrendered to the Ha Tinh Provincial Police Investigation Agency.

The case is currently under further investigation.
