On 27/6, at their wedding reception at Allington Manor, Grantham, groom Mark Fletcher, 47, stepped into the grounds. He was surprised to see a 210-inch screen, mounted on a truck, broadcasting live the match between England and Panama. His wife, Meg Fletcher, 35, had orchestrated this setup.
Meg kept the plan a secret from both the groom and their guests. The equipment, provided by AO, arrived at the wedding one hour before kickoff.

Mark and Meg began their relationship in 2021, got engaged at Christmas 2024, and married in late June. Their wedding coincided with the England national team's game. Mark expressed his complete surprise at this "gift" from his bride. He had previously resigned himself to missing the opportunity to cheer for his national team, even asking friends to update him on the scores via phone during the reception.
"I found a way to bring the match to the wedding to make up for my husband," Meg stated.
Many guests then suggested the groom swap his suit for an England jersey. The England team secured a 2-0 victory against Panama, advancing to the round of 16 as the top 1 team in Group L.
Mark, currently the director of one kitchen equipment business in the Yorkshire area, remarked that the screen preparation demonstrated his wife's consideration for his interests.

Nick Bunce, a representative from AO.com, noted that the overlap between match times and wedding celebrations often poses a challenge for sports fans. "The company provided the equipment to ensure everyone had the opportunity to follow the match developments during the event," he said.
This initiative stemmed from an AO TV survey on football viewing habits. Data revealed that 31% of participants prioritized their personal schedules around sporting events. The percentage of men prioritizing football reached 37%, exceeding the 25% reported by women.
After the wedding, the couple traveled to Santorini on 28/6 for their honeymoon and continued to look for a place to watch the England national team's match against the Democratic Republic of Congo on 1/7.
