First baby girl in 108 years for Sherman family

The Sherman family in Texas is about to welcome its first baby girl, breaking a 108-year, all-male streak.

Michael Sherman Jr., a firefighter in Montgomery County, and his wife, Joacquia, shared their exciting news at a family gathering on 7/9.

"It’s a really amazing feeling. I’m honored to be a part of it and to make history in the Sherman family," Michael said.

The last baby girl born into the Sherman family was Orah Belle Sherman in 1917.

Michael's father, Michael Sherman Sr., said this is a momentous occasion. "I have three sons, my dad had two and my uncle had two, and it’s been all boys," he said.

Chantene Newman, the baby’s grandmother, believes her future granddaughter is someone special. "I think she’s going to make history in the Sherman family," she said.

The baby girl, a sibling for 5-year-old Mekhai, is due in 3/2026.

The Shermans are planning to contact the Guinness World Records to see if their all-male lineage constitutes a record.
