Gaming billionaire reveals private life details after losing 'common-law wife' lawsuit

Gaming billionaire Xu Bo, who once declared his ambition to have "50 high-quality sons", is at the center of public debate after losing an asset dispute lawsuit against his former girlfriend, Tang Jing.

Gaming billionaire Xu Bo, 48, has publicized details of his private life on social media following an unfavorable court ruling in an asset dispute with his former girlfriend, Tang Jing. The tycoon lost the lawsuit, despite claiming substantial transfers to Tang were loans.

Born in 1977, Xu Bo dropped out of high school to become a billionaire in China's gaming industry. He is the creator of the game Fantasy Westward Journey and the founder of Duoyi Network. Beyond his self-proclaimed assets totaling 28 billion te, Xu sparked controversy with his misogynistic views, once stating his goal was to have "50 high-quality sons" to train into an elite class, with at least 10 achieving top success.

Xu and Tang met in 2009 through a dating website. Initially, Xu was displeased that Tang had been married before, but she actively pursued him and agreed to an arrangement allowing him to see other women. They had two children together despite not being legally married, cohabiting for 14 years.

After Tang proposed ending their relationship, Xu continued to provide support, transferring over 800 million te (112 million USD) to her in total. More than 400 million te of this was explicitly marked as a "loan" in the transfer details. Additionally, he asked Tang to hold assets valued at over one billion te in her name.

The conflict escalated in 2022 when Xu discovered Tang had abandoned their two children to flee abroad. There, Tang gave birth to 11 more children through sperm donation. Enraged by this, Xu aggressively demanded the money back. Tang repaid over 500 million te but retained more than 300 million te (42 million USD) and the assets held in her name, prompting Xu to file a lawsuit.

However, Xu unexpectedly lost the case. According to the court's ruling, Xu Bo could not prove that the money transferred to his former girlfriend was a commercial loan. The judiciary determined that these funds were, in fact, shared living expenses, child support, and emotional gifts during their cohabitation. Furthermore, Tang Jing's prior proactive repayment of over 500 million te was considered sufficient to fulfill reasonable financial obligations, despite Xu's "loan" notation.

Xu's personal story outraged the Chinese online community. Many believe the billionaire's pursuit of having many children reflects a disregard for human value, drawing widespread condemnation for his controversial lifestyle and views.
