Beyond competing on location and build quality, luxury real estate projects are increasingly emphasizing design and lifestyle experiences. Trends like green spaces, therapeutic gardens, sports facilities, and smart home ecosystems are becoming the new standard in urban living. Developers are carefully considering air conditioning design and placement to optimize ceiling height and cooling performance.

A prime example is the Sunshine Green Iconic project, which has limited ceiling height due to its proximity to a military zone. The developer chose the 1-way Cassette WindFree air conditioner to maximize space. The ceiling-mounted installation frees up wall space, creates a seamless interior design, and ensures efficient cooling.
In Southeast Asia and Oceania last year, sales of this air conditioner saw a growth of over 35%. This trend of using ceiling-mounted air conditioners in urban living spaces is what Samsung is promoting through its MoveUp campaign. This campaign encourages users to free up wall space by moving air conditioner placement to the ceiling. This allows urban residents to enjoy the aesthetic and practical benefits of improved cooling and energy savings.
Besides Sunshine Green Iconic, projects like The Fillmore Da Nang and Metropole Thu Thiem also use the 1-way Cassette WindFree. According to a brand representative, this air conditioning system meets many of the modern urban trends that project developers are targeting. One example is the smart home trend, for which Vietnam is projected to be the fastest-growing market in ASEAN, with a growth rate of 16.8% between 2025 and 2030.

This product integrates several technologies suitable for urban projects, such as VRF (a central air conditioning system connecting one outdoor unit to multiple indoor units) and Samsung b.IoT (an integrated building control solution). At Metropole Thu Thiem, over 2,300 HP of cooling capacity is connected through the Samsung Wifi Kit, allowing residents to control their air conditioning remotely.
The trend towards green infrastructure also contributes to this choice. The 1-way Cassette WindFree can save up to 55% energy when operating in WindFree mode. The unit uses the more environmentally friendly R32 refrigerant, along with Samsung Durafin Ultra technology for corrosion resistance and heat exchanger protection. Many large projects have installed thousands of indoor units combined with the Samsung DVM Eco system to optimize performance and energy savings.

Along with multi-million dollar projects, the brand is also expanding distribution of the 1-way Cassette WindFree through retail channels so that consumers can implement this solution in their homes. The product has built-in wifi, allowing connection to SmartThings for remote control, turning the unit on and off, activating WindFree mode, or AI Energy to optimize energy consumption based on usage habits. Users can also control it using the Bixby voice assistant or through the Wired Touched Remote Controller.
WindFree mode, with over 10,000 micro air holes, allows for gentle cooling, minimizing direct cold drafts and reducing the risk of thermal shock. This technology, once used for high-end projects, is now available in urban living spaces, allowing users to enjoy cool air and an enhanced daily living experience.
Through the MoveUp campaign, the brand aims to inspire users to move their air conditioners to the ceiling, freeing up wall space and bringing 5-star living standards to every apartment.
