Toshiba launches Japandi Kumo built-in refrigerator series

The Japandi Kumo refrigerator embodies the minimalist Japandi style with a jade cloud white hue, emphasizing meticulous design and features to help users achieve peace of mind in an optimized space.

In urban life, many young people live in an "always-on" state, constantly working and pursuing goals. Upon returning home, they seek balance. From this reality, Toshiba developed the Japandi Kumo refrigerator series, based on the Japandi style – a blend of minimalism and tranquility – and the "Details Matter" philosophy. This philosophy underscores meticulousness in design and features, focusing on both functional experience and user emotions. It asserts that attention to the smallest details brings balance and peace to users.

Harmonious design for any space

The Japandi Kumo features a built-in design with a 600 mm depth and a 0,4 mm side gap, fitting standard kitchen cabinets and freeing up space.

Instead of being a bulky appliance in the kitchen, the Japandi Kumo integrates into the overall interior, creating a seamless, tidy aesthetic. This makes the refrigerator highly valued in modern compact apartments, where every centimeter of space is precious.

A company representative shared that the Toshiba Japandi Kumo "successfully solved the problem" of having to push the refrigerator body back 50-80 mm or leave gaps of up to 50-100 mm on both sides to open the door and dissipate heat in current slim refrigerator models. "The product establishes a complete technical standard with an optimal built-in depth of exactly 600 mm – ideal for modern apartment kitchen designs," the representative emphasized.

Bottom heat dissipation technology and a door hinge opening to 125 degrees allow for a 0 cm rear clearance. This enables the refrigerator to sit flush against the wall, eliminating shifting or installation errors and preventing awkward protrusions or unnecessary gaps, creating a perfectly flat, seamless space.

The refrigerator's Jade Cloud white hue is a focal point, evoking warmth, purity, and lightness. This color is inspired by the 2026 color trend announced by the Pantone Color Institute (USA). Combined with a 9-layer tempered glass surface that resists fingerprints and scratches, the Japandi Kumo maintains its appearance over the years. This reduces cleaning effort for busy young families.

Japanese-standard preservation performance

The minimalist beauty of Japandi Kumo relies on advanced preservation technology, inherited from Toshiba Japan's 95 years of research and development.

The product is equipped with two independent cooling systems and two dual fans, distributing cold air separately between the freezer and refrigerator compartments. Consequently, fresh and cooked foods do not mix odors, minimizing the risk of cross-contamination – an issue often overlooked in many households.

A company representative stated that the product series achieves deep freezing down to negative 30 degrees C. This temperature forms smaller ice crystals, limiting damage to food cell structures. This ensures that after thawing, meat, fish, or vegetables retain their freshness, texture, and nearly intact nutrients. "This feature is a plus for busy individuals who often store large quantities of ingredients for long periods," the representative highlighted.

The PureBIO filter deodorizes and offers antibacterial capabilities, keeping the refrigerator interior clean and fresh. This protects family health at every meal.

Convenience meets emotion

While preservation technology offers users peace of mind, interactive details distinguish this refrigerator in everyday moments. Toshiba calls this the "Details Matter" philosophy, clearly demonstrated through the "Welcome Light" feature: a system of lights that gently illuminate automatically when a user approaches the refrigerator. The light is particularly noticeable in dark spaces or rooms with lights off.

"A small detail, but it brings a welcoming feeling every time I step into the kitchen, transforming the kitchen space into a truly relaxing experience," said Thu Ha, 30, from An Khanh ward, TP HCM, sharing her impressions after one week of use.

Connectivity with the TSmartLife application further enhances convenience. Users can remotely monitor and adjust temperatures, or receive alerts on their phone if they accidentally forget to close the refrigerator door. An integrated power consumption report in the app helps users save energy and optimize home appliance management.

Launched this past March, the Japandi Kumo series includes two models: a 520-liter model with two upright doors and two horizontal doors (model GR-RF680), and a 521-liter model with four upright doors (model GR-RF681). The Japandi Kumo is priced at approximately 26-29 million VND, a continuation of the first Japandi Flagship Series (GR-RF690 & GR-RF695 – priced at approximately 50 million VND).
