This approach is adopted by Toshiba for its Toshiba TWP-IW2469SVN(K) water purifier with ice maker. The product combines water filtration, heating, cooling, and ice making in one device. According to the manufacturer's specifications, the machine can produce approximately eight ice cubes in eight minutes, with each cube weighing 6-7g, achieving a maximum ice making capacity of 6 kg in 24 hours.
Ice made from filtered water
A notable feature of the TWP-IW2469SVN is its ice making system, directly integrated with the water filtration system. Toshiba states that the closed water supply and ice making system helps limit the risk of ice exposure to external agents during creation and storage. The ice storage compartment has a capacity of 0,4 kg.
The ice making system uses a stainless steel alloy freezing component. The manufacturer indicates that this material resists corrosion and reduces the risk of metal contamination from parts in contact with water. The automatic ice making and storage mechanism ensures continuous ice replenishment during use.
According to technical specifications, the machine can produce eight ice cubes in approximately eight minutes. The maximum stated performance is 6 kg of ice every 24 hours. With a storage compartment capacity of 0,4 kg, users can retrieve ice directly from the device without needing separate ice trays.
This design caters to families who frequently use cold water or ice cubes for beverages. Combining both functions into one device also reduces the number of appliances needed in the kitchen area.
11-step filtration system, combining reverse osmosis and UV
To serve both drinking water and ice making needs, the TWP-IW2469SVN is equipped with a filtration system comprising 10 filters and a UV lamp. Toshiba introduces an 11-step filtration process, which includes US reverse osmosis (RO) technology.

According to the company, this system can treat bacteria and impurities in water, while also incorporating Rock Active technology to supplement minerals from activated mineral rock. This is one of the technologies Toshiba has integrated into the product's water treatment system.
Additionally, a UV LED lamp is integrated into the water tank. Toshiba states this technology can kill up to 99,9% of bacteria and helps inhibit bacterial regrowth during water storage.
The filtration system includes 10 filters and one UV lamp, with filter replacement times announced by the manufacturer depending on the quality of the incoming water. The reverse osmosis filter has a recommended replacement cycle of 24 months or 7.200 liters, while other filters are approximately 12 months or 3.600 liters.
In addition to drinking water, the machine provides hot water with a capacity of one liter, at temperatures of 85 degrees C or higher, and cold water with a capacity of 1,7 liters, at a maximum temperature of 10 degrees C. The cooling system uses a compressor.
Japandi-inspired design
Beyond its water treatment functions, the TWP-IW2469SVN is designed with a Japandi aesthetic, aiming for a minimalist style suitable for modern kitchen spaces.
