Carrie Edwards said she doesn't often play the lottery. On 8/9, she jokingly asked ChatGPT, "Do you have any numbers for me?" and the AI suggested a sequence of numbers.
On 10/9, she received a text message saying, "Please come and claim your prize." Initially, Edwards thought it was a scam.
After double-checking the information, she discovered the numbers she bought matched four of the five main numbers and the Powerball number in the 8/9 draw.
In this lottery format, players choose five numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from 1 to 26. Matching all six numbers wins the jackpot, while partial matches win smaller prizes.

Edwards's initial prize was worth 50,000 USD, but thanks to paying an extra 1 USD for the Power Play option, her winnings tripled to 150,000 USD.
"I think this is a gift from God, and I know exactly what to do with this money," she said. Edwards donated the entire 150,000 USD to three charities.
"I feel fortunate to be able to help others," she said.
