Ahead of the 2026 World Cup final against Argentina, Spanish national team players Marc Cucurella and Lamine Yamal have made unusual pledges should their team lift the trophy.
In an interview with the YouTube channel El Partidazo de COPE, Cucurella revealed he would get a tattoo of head coach Luis de la Fuente on his arm if Spain secures the World Cup trophy. The 27-year-old defender also stated his intention to retire from international football.
"If I already have the Euro and World Cup titles, there's nothing left to achieve," he said.
This is not the first time Cucurella has garnered attention for bold remarks. Previously, the player, who came through the La Masia (Barcelona) academy, once declared he would rather shave his head than play for Real Madrid. Despite that, he later joined Real Madrid and has kept his distinctive curly hair.

Lamine Yamal has also joined the trend. The 19-year-old winger pledged to grow a beard and mustache for three weeks if Spain wins the World Cup.
Spanish players are highly optimistic about securing their second World Cup title, following their victory in 2010. Meanwhile, the Argentina national team aims to win two consecutive World Cup trophies, a feat last achieved by Brazil.
Cucurella has been a key player for La Roja (the Spanish national team's nickname) throughout this year's tournament. He has played every match since the start and was instrumental in their semi-final victory over France, propelling Spain to their first World Cup final in 16 years.
Meanwhile, Yamal is still pursuing the biggest milestone of his career. The 19-year-old forward played the full 90 minutes in the semi-final win against France.
Spain will face Argentina in the final, scheduled for 2:00 (Hanoi time) on 20/7 at MetLife Stadium in New York, New Jersey, United States.
