The Politburo has assigned 10 members of the 14th Politburo to the 14th Secretariat. These include: general secretary To Lam; standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu; head of the Central Organization Commission Le Minh Hung; secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front and central mass organizations, president of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai; chairman of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, general Nguyen Trong Nghia; head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Trinh Van Quyet; head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Le Minh Tri; chief of the Central Party Office Pham Gia Tuc; chairman of the Central Inspection Commission Tran Sy Thanh; and head of the Central Policy and Strategy Commission Nguyen Thanh Nghi.

Previously, at its first conference, the 14th Central Committee elected vice president Vo Thi Anh Xuan, deputy prime minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, and chief justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Van Quang to the 14th Secretariat.
Thus, the 14th Secretariat comprises 13 members: 10 Politburo members assigned by the Politburo and 3 members elected by the Central Committee.

The Party Charter stipulates the Central Committee establishes the Secretariat, which consists of the general secretary, some Politburo members assigned by the Politburo, and some Secretariat members elected by the Central Committee from among its members.
The Secretariat leads the Party's daily work, including: guiding Party building and mass work; inspecting and supervising the implementation of Party resolutions and directives on economic, social, national defense, security, and foreign affairs; directing the coordination of activities among organizations within the political system; deciding on organizational and personnel matters and other issues as assigned by the Central Committee; and guiding or inspecting the preparation of issues for Politburo discussion and decision.
