Representatives from various ministries and agencies have been nominated in preparation for the election day on 15/3, when voters nationwide will elect 500 representatives to the new National Assembly.
General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, received 100% approval from voters at his workplace for his nomination. Phan Van Giang, 65 years old, is from Hong Quang ward, Ninh Binh province. He holds a Doctor of Military Science degree and is currently a National Assembly deputy for the 15th term. He was recently elected as a member of the Party Central Committee and re-elected to the 14th Politburo.
The military also has two other generals nominated: Nguyen Trong Nghia, Head of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; and Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of General Staff and Deputy Minister of National Defense.

General Luong Tam Quang, a Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, has been nominated as a National Assembly deputy for the first time. Luong Tam Quang, 59 years old, is from Hung Yen province. He holds bachelor's degrees in Criminal Investigation and Law, previously held numerous positions at the Ministry of Public Security, and was approved by the National Assembly as Minister of Public Security in 6/2024.
Also from the Ministry of Public Security, Senior Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, a member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister; Lieutenant General Pham Cong Nguyen, Director General of the Department of Legal Affairs and Administrative and Judicial Reform; and Colonel Nguyen Trung Kien, Deputy Director of the People's Security Academy, are among the officers nominated.

Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung, 65 years old, from Hue city, was unanimously nominated by voters at his workplace as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly. Le Hoai Trung holds a Doctor of Law degree and a Master of International Law degree, assumed the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs in 10/2025, and is a National Assembly deputy for the 15th term.
Tran Duc Thang, a member of the 14th Politburo and Minister of Agriculture and Environment, from Phu Tho, holding a Doctor of Economics degree and a Bachelor of Finance and Banking degree, also received 100% approval from voters at his workplace for his nomination.
At the Ministry of Science and Technology's voter consultation conference on 23/1, all 150 voters present unanimously nominated Associate Professor Doctor Vu Hai Quan, 52 years old, a member of the Party Central Committee and Permanent Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly. Vu Hai Quan, from Ninh Binh, is an expert in artificial intelligence and previously served as Director of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City before being appointed Permanent Deputy Minister of Science and Technology in 9/2025.

Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang, 51 years old, from Hanoi, holding a Doctor of Theoretical Monetary Finance degree, was also nominated. Nguyen Van Thang is a National Assembly deputy for the 14th and 15th terms and has been a member of the Party Central Committee for several terms. At the Ministry of Home Affairs' voter consultation conference, 100% of voters unanimously nominated Minister Do Thanh Binh, 59 years old, from Ca Mau, holding a Master of Economics degree and a Bachelor of Political Economy degree, as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly.
Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son received 100% unanimous vote from voters for his nomination as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly. Minister Nguyen Kim Son, 60 years old, from Hai Phong, is an Associate Professor and Doctor of Literature; a member of the 13th Party Central Committee; and a National Assembly deputy for the 15th term.
Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan, 55 years old, from Hai Phong city, holding a Master of Economics degree, is a National Assembly deputy for the 15th term and has been nominated for re-election.
Acting Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung, 53 years old, from Hung Yen, formerly Chairman of the Board of Members of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, was also approved by voters for his nomination as a National Assembly deputy this time.
The State Bank of Vietnam held a voter consultation conference and unanimously nominated Governor Nguyen Thi Hong, 58 years old, holding a Master of Development Economics degree, as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly.
On 16/1, the Government Inspectorate unanimously nominated Nguyen Quoc Doan, Permanent Deputy Inspector General of the Government Inspectorate, as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly. Doan, 51 years old, from Ninh Binh, holds a Doctor of Law degree specializing in Criminology and Criminal Investigation.

During the 15th National Assembly term, government members who served as National Assembly deputies included Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Deputy Prime Ministers: Nguyen Hoa Binh, Le Thanh Long, Ho Duc Phoc, Bui Thanh Son, Nguyen Chi Dung, Pham Thi Thanh Tra. Additionally, National Assembly deputies for the 15th term included Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang, Minister of Home Affairs Do Thanh Binh, Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan, and Acting Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung.
