On the evening of 5/9, 4-year-old Nguyen Anh Quan and his 2-year-old cousin, Nguyen Anh Huy, were playing outside their home in Vinh City. Huy, whose nickname is "Nhong," fell into a meter-wide drainage ditch filled with more than a meter of water. The ditch, which runs for hundreds of meters around their neighborhood, was uncovered at the point where Huy fell in.

Quan immediately ran inside to where the adults were talking, shouting, "Grandma, grandma, Nhong is playing in the water!" He repeatedly pointed towards the street. Huy's grandmother and several others rushed to the ditch, located just a few meters from the house. They found Huy submerged, with only his arm visible, and pulled him out within seconds.

A video of Quan running for help, shared by family members on social media, has garnered hundreds of thousands of views. Viewers praised the 4-year-old's quick thinking and decisive action.

Relatives expressed surprise at Quan's response. Huyen Ly, a family member, explained, "Fortunately, Quan knew to tell the adults. The ditch is right across from the house, but it's hidden by a wall. If Quan hadn't come in to tell us, no one would have known."
