Cargo truck catches fire on La Son - Hoa Lien expressway

A cargo truck transporting goods to the Central region erupted in flames on the La Son - Hoa Lien expressway on the morning of 30/5, resulting in significant damage to its cargo.

The incident occurred around 5 AM when Nguyen Van Lam, 31, from Thanh Hoa province, was driving a Hanoi-registered truck on the La Son - Hoa Lien expressway towards Da Nang. Upon reaching viaduct 4 in Khe Tre commune, he noticed a fierce fire in the cargo area, prompting him to stop the vehicle immediately and alert authorities.

Hue City Fire and Rescue Police, along with other units, quickly arrived to extinguish the blaze and ensure traffic safety on the route. By around 7 AM, the fire continued to burn, with thick black smoke rising high and forcing many vehicles in the area to reduce speed.

While no human casualties have been reported, the goods on the truck sustained severe damage. These items, belonging to Havison Industrial Joint Stock Company, were en route for delivery to a unit in the Central region.

The La Son - Hoa Lien expressway is 65 km long and forms part of the La Son - Tuy Loan route, connecting Hue City with Da Nang City. Opened in 4/2022, it initially featured two lanes with a speed limit of 60-80 km/h. The project is currently undergoing expansion to four lanes, with a total investment exceeding 3,010 billion VND.
