On the evening of 15/7, the Dien Chau Traffic Police Station, part of the Nghe An Provincial Police Traffic Police Department, announced an administrative fine against a 51-year-old female driver from Hung Chau commune. The fine was issued for crossing a railway crossing while the red warning lights were active, a violation under Clause 9, Article 13 of Government Decree 81/2026. The driver admitted to the violation.

The incident, recorded by a security camera at the barrier station in Hung Chau commune (formerly Dien Chau district), occurred at approximately 8h10 on 13/7. The woman drove a pickup truck across National Highway 1 and onto the North-South residential railway crossing. Despite the warning lights for an approaching train being on and the automatic barrier beginning to lower, the driver proceeded to attempt crossing the tracks.
Two railway barrier staff quickly intervened, running out to stop the driver and instruct her to reverse her vehicle from the hazardous area. After a few minutes, the driver complied, moving her vehicle away from the intersection.
Police emphasize the importance of adhering to traffic lights, warning bells, and barrier systems when approaching railway crossings. Disregarding these safety measures or intentionally violating rules significantly increases the risk of severe accidents.
In 2025, Nghe An recorded 7 railway traffic accidents, resulting in two fatalities and six injuries. The province has 171 road-rail intersections, including 73 railway crossings (23 with guards, 37 with automatic barriers and warnings, 13 with signs only) and 98 informal crossings.
