On 15/5, Thach Thi My Nhan, a resident of Ken Mieu hamlet, Tan Loc commune, reported that her family had repeatedly spotted a crocodile in the pond behind their house over the past two days. She recorded images with her phone, posting them on social media to alert neighbors and simultaneously notifying authorities.

According to Nhan, her mother was the first to see the crocodile surface the previous morning before it quickly submerged. Several hours later, the creature thrashed vigorously, disturbing the pond's surface before hiding among the water spinach. The pond, spanning dozens of square meters and over 2 meters deep, is surrounded by dense vegetation, providing ideal conditions for the crocodile to hide.
About one week prior, a neighboring household also spotted a similar-sized crocodile in their pond, but an attempt to net it failed. Family members suspect the currently appearing crocodile might be the same one previously seen in the nearby area.
Given the presence of elderly family members and young children in the household, the family has assigned members to monitor the area and restricted access to the pond to prevent risks.
Leaders of Tan Loc commune stated that local authorities have dispatched personnel to the scene to survey the area and devise a capture plan. Authorities initially estimated the crocodile to weigh around 13 kg.
