On 13/3, the Da Nang City People's Committee announced that Chairman Pham Duc An requested units to research the construction of an eastern high-speed urban road. This new route aims to connect central Da Nang with Nam Hoi An to Tam Ky - Chu Lai, an area located in the former Quang Nam province.
The initial plan for the road involves a 4-6 lane scale. The project will first address current traffic needs, with the full cross-section completed as vehicle volume grows.

This project integrates with urban development following the transit-oriented development (TOD) model, leveraging natural landscapes and views of the Truong Giang River. Chairman Pham Duc An emphasized that planning research must connect the urban center's functional areas. Land clearance will be carried out synchronously along the entire route and within the planned TOD areas.
According to the City People's Committee, the coastal distance from central Da Nang to the Chu Lai area is approximately 70-80 km. Chu Lai is currently attracting significant investment in infrastructure projects, including: an airport, seaport, free trade zone, industrial parks, and coastal urban areas.
Alongside this new road, the city has called for research into expanding Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, integrated with the reclamation urban area plan. The design will re-evaluate the cross-section, landscaping, sidewalk materials, and seawall system.
The Hoang Sa - Vo Nguyen Giap - Truong Sa - Hoi An coastal axis is also being studied for expansion. In certain locations, the plan includes underpasses or pedestrian overpasses to connect to the beaches. A report on the landscape design and infrastructure plan is expected to be submitted to the City People's Committee in 5/2026.

In addition to these main axes, Da Nang is also preparing to invest in other connecting infrastructure projects in 2026. These include: upgrading national route 14G (from national route 14B to Ho Chi Minh Road), renovating the Nam Hai Van bypass, developing the Cu De riverfront route (connecting to the free trade zone), and upgrading the Nguyen Phuoc Chu - Ta Quang Buu route.
City leaders have assigned project management boards and the Department of Construction to coordinate in finalizing investment procedures and planning options for the implementation of these transport infrastructure projects.
