Around 1h, a male driver was operating a taxi on the embankment road along the Nhue River when the accident occurred as he reached Thuong Phuc village, Dai Thanh commune. The driver managed to escape.

About 50 minutes later, Fire and Rescue Team No. 31 (Team 31, Hanoi Police Department) received the report. They coordinated with Team 5, deploying three fire trucks and 18 officers to the scene.

Upon arrival, the taxi was in the middle of the river, almost entirely submerged, with its trunk open.

Rescue police salvaged the car, which had a dented body and deployed airbags. Rescue operations concluded around 4h50 that same day.

According to a representative from Road Traffic Police Team No. 14, under the Traffic Police Department, Hanoi Police Department, the initial cause was the driver falling asleep and losing control.
