The fire began around 5 PM at a kiosk located near the entrance of Danh market. At that time, many kiosks within the market were closed. Within about five minutes, the fire had already spread to six adjacent kiosks.
Traders shouted warnings and attempted to salvage some goods. However, the fire grew stronger, and attempts by some individuals to extinguish it with small fire extinguishers were unsuccessful. The blaze created a column of black smoke tens of meters high.

About ten minutes after the fire erupted, the Fire and Rescue Team for Thai Thuy area dispatched three fire trucks and about 30 officers and soldiers to the scene. They coordinated with commune police to suppress the flames.
By approximately 6:30 PM the same day, the fire was largely controlled. There were no human casualties, but about 100 square meters across six kiosks were destroyed by the blaze. The damaged stalls included businesses selling general goods, bedding, medicine, and fruit. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
