Fire in an apartment building in TP HCM, mother and two children severely burned

A fire erupted in a 5th-floor apartment at the EhomeS building, Long Truong ward (formerly TP Thu Duc), causing a mother and her two children to suffer from smoke inhalation and severe burns on the morning of 24/1.

The blaze began around 4 a.m. in a 46-square-meter apartment. At the time, the 32-year-old mother and her two daughters, aged 6 and 9, were asleep in their room. The fire started in the living room, near the entrance, and quickly spread to the furniture, trapping the family inside.

The fire alarm sounded, prompting many residents to panic and evacuate to a safe area.

Fire and Rescue Police dispatched numerous specialized vehicles and more than 20 officers to the scene. Firefighters quickly accessed the apartment, brought the mother and her two children out, and transported them for emergency treatment at Le Van Thinh Hospital, located about 3 kilometers away.

According to Le Van Thinh Hospital, the mother sustained burns to her arms and legs, suffered smoke inhalation, and experienced out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and respiratory arrest. She was resuscitated and subsequently transferred to Cho Ray Hospital. The two girls suffered burns to their legs and smoke inhalation and were transferred to Children's Hospital 1 and Children's Hospital 2 for further treatment.

Mr. Le Ngoc Dung, Chairman of Long Truong Ward People's Committee, stated that the three victims are currently receiving intensive care, and authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.

EHome S is a social housing apartment project spanning approximately 1,7 hectares, comprising 4 blocks and more than 1,000 apartments with areas ranging from 40 to 75 square meters.
