The area around the railway underpass is undergoing restoration. This marks Hanoi's first underpass beneath a railway line. Construction presented many difficulties, primarily due to the need to ensure uninterrupted train operations.

The structure features four lanes, with a total tunnel length of 460 meters, comprising 140 meters of enclosed tunnel and 320 meters of open-cut tunnel.

One end of the underpass is located on Kim Dong Street, while the other connects to Ring Road 2.5 near Dam Hong, adjacent to Dinh Cong Street.

Along both sides of the underpass, a dense drainage system is in place to manage flooding. Water collecting here will flow into the tunnel's pumping system and be discharged.

Inside the underpass, the construction team is preparing to install ventilation and lighting.

Construction units have paved approximately 400 tons of asphalt concrete and are now focusing on completing the open-cut section near Dam Hong.
This is the fifth underpass in the capital constructed since 2009, following the Kim Lien - Xa Dan, Trung Hoa, Thanh Xuan, and Le Van Luong underpasses.

In addition to the underpass, the construction unit for Ring Road 2.5, which will connect to the underpass, is also accelerating its progress.
Once the Kim Dong - Giai Phong underpass is operational, the Kim Dong - Giai Phong - Tan Mai intersection will see significant relief. Traffic flowing along Ring Road 2.5 will move continuously, reducing intersection conflicts and alleviating long-standing congestion at the capital's southern gateway.
