On the evening of 30/12, the My Thuan Project Management Board, under the Ministry of Construction and the project's investor, announced that the expressway, originally slated for operation at 9 am today, has been delayed due to adverse weather. The route is now expected to open in January 2026.

The Hau Giang – Ca Mau section represents an investment of over 17,150 billion VND. It is part of the larger Can Tho – Ca Mau expressway project, which spans nearly 111 km, features four lanes, and has a total capital exceeding 27,500 billion VND. A related segment, the 37.65 km Can Tho – Hau Giang section, opened on 22/12.
Once fully operational, the entire expressway will significantly cut travel time from TP HCM to Ca Mau, reducing it to approximately 3.5–4 hours. This represents nearly a 50% reduction compared to using National Highway 1.
