According to the plan for the 50th anniversary of Saigon - Gia Dinh city being renamed after President Ho Chi Minh (2/7/1976 – 2/7/2026), a flower offering ceremony at President Ho Chi Minh Monument Park and Nguyen Hue street will take place on the morning of 1/7, inaugurating the series of events.
A national commemorative ceremony will be held on the morning of 2/7 at the Unification Hall, with the attendance of Party and State leaders, central ministries, former Ho Chi Minh City leaders, and representatives from all walks of life. This pivotal event marks 50 years since the National Assembly decided to rename Saigon - Gia Dinh city to Ho Chi Minh City, and will be attended by General Secretary and President To Lam.

On the evening of 2/7, the city will host a live television bridge from Unification Hall, connecting to the New City Center, Tam Thang Square, Ba Dinh Square, Kim Lien Relic Site, Con Dao special administrative region, and Naval Region 4.
On the evenings of 1/7 and 2/7, art programs featuring 3D Mapping performances will take place in front of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee headquarters. On the evening of 2/7, the city will launch fireworks displays at 16 locations: 5 high-altitude combined with low-altitude, and 11 low-altitude points.
Another highlight is the groundbreaking ceremony for a series of key projects on the morning of 1/7, located in the Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi Wharf area. These projects include the Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi Cultural Park, the Ho Tram - Long Thanh International Airport urban expressway, and the Can Gio - Vung Tau sea-crossing road.
In the education sector, Ho Chi Minh City aims to complete 70 projects, adding 1,251 new classrooms, and simultaneously commence 100 more projects to provide approximately 1,514 additional classrooms.
The city has also launched an emulation campaign titled "Proud 50 Years - Innovation and Development," which will run until the end of 2026. The Youth Union will organize the Congress of Advanced Youth Following President Ho Chi Minh's Teachings, alongside numerous commendation and traditional education activities.
On this occasion, Ho Chi Minh City is implementing social welfare programs to support meritorious individuals, poor households, and policy groups, with a total budget exceeding 179 billion VND.
