On the morning of 28/1, Lieutenant Trung piloted a Yak-130 aircraft for a scheduled training exercise. After nearly 20 minutes of flight, the aircraft experienced a technical malfunction and lost contact.
The pilot attempted to resolve the issue but was unsuccessful. He steered the aircraft towards Hon Vinh mountain in Dong Hoa ward to avoid populated areas. After identifying a suitable location, Lieutenant Trung activated his ejection parachute and landed in Hoa Hiep ward.

Phu Yen General Hospital stated that Lieutenant Trung was admitted at 9h on 28/1 with minor facial abrasions. Upon his arrival, the hospital activated its "internal red alert" protocol. They mobilized all resources for prompt treatment and coordinated with Lieutenant Trung's unit to ensure comprehensive care during his recovery.
A hospital representative confirmed, "After one day of monitoring, care, and treatment, his condition stabilized, and no abnormalities were detected."
