Military, police build homes, clear trees after storm

Authorities in Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang mobilize police, military, and residents to overcome the aftermath of a storm and hailstorm.

Last night, 2/5, authorities in communes such as Hop Thanh, Phu Lac, Dai Tu, and Phu Thinh in Thai Nguyen province mobilized forces to trim tree branches on key roads to ensure traffic flow.

Thai Nguyen province mobilized all military and police forces to mitigate the aftermath of the natural disaster. The storm damaged over 300 homes and many schools.

In Phu Luong commune, several decorative landscapes at the People's Committee office, which were toppled by the storm, are also being restored this morning.

The Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention reported that as of 6:30 AM on 3/5, the natural disaster had injured five people in Thai Nguyen. Approximately 350 houses had their roofs blown off, with Thai Nguyen suffering the most significant damage at 309 homes, followed by Dien Bien with 40 homes, and Lao Cai with one home.

Agricultural production was also severely affected, with 919 hectares of rice and crops damaged, primarily in Dien Bien (767 hectares) and Thai Nguyen (152 hectares). Additionally, six schools in Thai Nguyen lost their roofs, and 12 power poles collapsed, causing localized disruptions to the electricity grid.

The storm and hailstorm damaged many structures in Phu Lac commune.

The storm caused dozens of homes in Hop Thanh commune to lose their roofs. For cases where immediate repairs were not possible, military forces assisted residents in moving agricultural products.

Many inter-village and inter-commune roads in Hop Thanh commune were cut off due to fallen trees. This morning, authorities cleared them to restore traffic.

Forces are working to mitigate the storm's impact to ensure teaching and learning can resume tomorrow.
