On 26/6, the Da Nang People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for the National Highway 14D renovation and upgrade project. This key transport infrastructure project aims to expand the city's western development footprint and enhance connectivity with Laos and Northeast Thailand.
The project's investor is the Ban Quan Ly Du an Dau tu Xay dung cac cong trinh Giao thong va Nong nghiep Da Nang. Funding is allocated from central and city budgets.
The road spans 65,37 km, beginning at the Ho Chi Minh Road intersection in Ben Giang commune and concluding at the Nam Giang border gate area in La Dee commune. It is designed to mountainous class III and class IV standards, featuring an 8 m wide road surface on a 9 m roadbed.

Key project components include asphalt and cement concrete paving, the construction of 293 drainage culverts, and 29 bridges (26 new). Traffic safety and lighting systems in residential areas will also be comprehensively developed. The project is expected to be completed in 2028.
"The upgraded National Highway 14D will contribute to effective connectivity with neighboring Laos and Northeast Thailand, enhancing logistics capacity and creating momentum for regional economic development", said Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, at the groundbreaking ceremony.
Nguyen Van Thuong, Director of the Project Management Board, announced that contractor selection procedures are complete and construction preparations are underway. Land clearance is underway in Ben Giang, Nam Giang, and La Dee communes for early handover to the construction unit.
