At 12:00 on 12/2, the 88 km Quang Ngai – Hoai Nhon expressway opened to traffic after three years of construction. The project, with an investment exceeding 20,470 billion VND, runs through Quang Ngai and Gia Lai, and is one of 12 sub-projects of the North-South Expressway's second phase, which began construction in early 2023.

Additionally, tonight, Project Management Board 85 (under the Ministry of Construction) will open the entire 70 km Hoai Nhon – Quy Nhon expressway, an investment of 12,400 billion VND, traversing Gia Lai. This includes the 20 km Quy Nhon – Chi Thanh section, which connects from Cu Mong tunnel to the Hoai Nhon – Quy Nhon expressway.
In their initial phase, these three expressway sections feature four lanes, a maximum speed of 90 km/h, and currently lack emergency stopping lanes, providing only technical stopping points along the route.

To date, out of the 12 North-South Expressway projects for the 2021–2025 period, six have been opened to traffic: Bai Vot – Ham Nghi, Ham Nghi – Vung Ang, Vung Ang – Bung, Bung – Van Ninh, Van Ninh – Cam Lo, and Van Phong – Nha Trang. Once all projects are completed, the North-South Expressway will provide a continuous route from Lang Son to Ca Mau.
