According to Vietnam Expressway Services Engineering Joint Stock Company (VECE), the operator of the expressway, repairs to the expansion joints at pier P26 of the Long Thanh bridge are expected to last 15 days, starting 15/7. The contractor has closed one half of the left side of the bridge (Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City direction) and imposed speed limits in the area for safety.

In addition to the Long Thanh bridge, the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway is also undergoing repairs. The contractor will implement speed limits and lane closures at 64 locations over a one-month period, from now until mid-August.
"Congestion is inevitable during construction, so drivers should reduce speed, maintain a safe following distance, and monitor traffic information to plan their routes accordingly," a VECE representative said. Expressway management, traffic police, and related parties will be on site to manage traffic and minimize congestion.
Opened in 2015, the 55-km, four-lane Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, with two emergency lanes, connects Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province. The Long Thanh bridge is the largest bridge on the route. It spans over 2.3 km, is 19.7 m wide, has four lanes, and has a design speed of 100 km/h. In 9/2024, an expansion joint on the bridge was also repaired due to damage after a period of operation.

In recent years, the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway has experienced frequent congestion on weekends and holidays due to high traffic volume. The traffic pressure has increased since the route connected with the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway to Lam Dong (formerly Binh Thuan). An expansion of almost 22 km of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, from Ring Road 2 in Ho Chi Minh City to the intersection with the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, is scheduled for August.
