The fireworks display will last 15 minutes, starting at 9 p.m. The program is organized by the Department of Culture and Sports and the City Command, in coordination with relevant units.
Prior to the fireworks, Ho Chi Minh City will host a special art program at 7:30 p.m. at three locations: Nguyen Hue Street (Saigon ward), the outdoor stage at the New Urban Area Central Park (Binh Duong ward), and Thuy Van Square (Vung Tau ward).
The fireworks display is in accordance with Government Decree 137/2020. According to the decree, on Lunar New Year's Eve and National Day, centrally-affiliated cities are allowed to launch both high and low-altitude fireworks; other provinces can only launch low-altitude fireworks, with a duration not exceeding 15 minutes.
Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are also permitted to have fireworks displays on 30/4. Certain provinces are allowed fireworks on special occasions, such as Phu Tho with the Hung Kings Commemoration, and Dien Bien Phu with the Dien Bien Phu Victory Anniversary. Fireworks are also permitted for events like the establishment anniversaries of centrally-affiliated cities and provinces; national and international cultural, tourism, and sporting events; New Year's Day; and other occasions as decided by the Prime Minister.
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day this year, Ho Chi Minh City will also organize various activities such as photo exhibitions, visits to martyrs' cemeteries, and flower offerings. The city will also hold 20 art performances in wards and communes in the three newly merged areas.
