Two-story house collapses in Bac Ninh

A two-story house on Le Loi Street, Bac Giang ward, collapsed on the morning of 9/7 while an adjacent building was being demolished for new construction.

At approximately 10 a.m., the two-story house, spanning about 60 square meters per floor and operating a rice restaurant on its first level, suddenly tilted and collapsed. The incident created a loud noise, enveloping the area in dust. Bricks, concrete, rebar, and many interior items were buried under the rubble, with a motorcycle parked outside struck by the falling debris.

Witnesses living near the scene reported that individuals inside the rice restaurant and the adjacent construction site evacuated after noticing the house begin to tilt.

The adjacent construction site, undergoing demolition for a new building, also sustained damage. A corrugated iron fence, several meters high, was warped and collapsed to the ground from the impact, with many steel frames becoming deformed.

Tran Van Thanh, Chairman of the Bac Giang Ward People's Committee, stated that there were no human casualties in the incident. He confirmed that the two-story rice restaurant and the adjacent demolition site shared one owner. Authorities, in coordination with the police, cordoned off the area to inspect the structural integrity and assess safety risks for nearby residential properties.

The house collapse caused traffic disruption on Le Loi Street as authorities managed the scene and initiated an investigation into the cause.
