On 9/7, Chu Van Long, Director of the Project Management Board for the Cam Lo - La Son Expressway Expansion, under the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, announced that the route will cease operations daily from 5 pm the previous day until 5 am the next day.
This closure is due to contractors simultaneously deploying various construction components across the entire Cam Lo - La Son expressway. This work requires the removal of road signs and corrugated guardrails, narrowing the road surface for expansion on both sides. Operating conditions for the expressway are no longer guaranteed, especially at night when visibility is limited and vehicles often travel at high speeds due to low traffic volume, increasing the risk of traffic accidents.
"The operational halt aims to prevent accidents and ensure absolute safety for both vehicles and the construction workforce", Long stated. The unit has coordinated with the Construction Departments of Quang Tri province and Hue city, along with other agencies, to install warning signs at both ends of the route.

Previously, in 5/2026, the Traffic Police Department proposed a temporary halt to operations on the Cam Lo - La Son expressway to enhance traffic safety. According to the Department's assessment, operating traffic concurrently with construction, particularly at night, carries a high risk of accidents due to restricted visibility and narrowed road surfaces. The constant changes in traffic flow and the presence of numerous construction vehicles and machinery on the route can lead to unexpected situations.
The Cam Lo - La Son route is part of the Eastern North-South Expressway system, stretching 98,3 km, passing through Quang Tri (36,3 km) and Hue city (62 km). The route is currently being expanded from two to four complete lanes.
