The Vinh Hau Commune Military Command and Commune Police quickly secured the site. They cordoned off the area, erected warning signs, and established a danger zone to ensure the safety of nearby residents.
Upon inspection, authorities identified the object as a US-made 105 mm artillery shell. It measured about 50 cm long, weighed approximately 25 kg, and had a lethal radius of 50 to 70 m. Local military forces reported the discovery to the sappers of the Ca Mau Provincial Military Command for proper handling.
This incident followed a similar discovery the day before. Residents in Vinh Trach ward also found a rusty artillery shell of the same type while renovating a shrimp pond. That shell was subsequently collected and safely disposed of by authorities.
