Doan Van Hau banned for 4 matches after fouling Doan Ngoc Tan

Cong an Ha Noi defender Doan Van Hau received an additional suspension after a challenge injured Doan Ngoc Tan in round 2 of the V-League 2026-2027.

On the evening of September 10 at Hang Day Stadium, Doan Ngoc Tan raced down the flank and swung his leg to clear the ball, then Van Hau stepped on his right ankle. The foul resulted in Van Hau's first career red card after the referee reviewed video footage during Cong an Ha Noi's (CAHN) 1-0 victory over The Cong in V-League round 2.

Ngoc Tan was forced off the field in the 71st minute. A day later, medical examinations at the hospital confirmed he sustained an injury to his distal fibula and ankle ligaments, requiring about one week for recovery. Tan will miss The Cong's opening AFC Champions League Two group stage match against Melbourne Victory, as well as an opportunity to join the national team.

Following the match organizer's report, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Disciplinary Committee decided to ban Doan Van Hau for 4 matches and fine him 20 million dong. This represents the maximum suspension permitted under Clause one, Article 39 on Bodily Harm in the 2026 VFF Disciplinary Regulations.

Doan Van Hau will be ineligible for domestic competitions, including the V-League and the National Cup. However, he remains eligible to play in international club tournaments such as the AFC Champions League (ACL) Elite and the ASEAN Club Championship. This afternoon, Van Hau started for CAHN in their away match against Japanese club Gamba Osaka in the ACL Elite qualifying round.
