FPT Play ignites Esports World Cup 2026

FPT Play brings the Esports World Cup 2026 closer to Vietnamese audiences through two months of broadcasting, production, and community engagement.

The Esports World Cup 2026 (EWC 2026) stands as one of the world's largest esports events, featuring over 2,000 players from more than 200 clubs, representing over 100 countries and territories. For this year's season, FPT Play secured exclusive broadcasting rights for EWC 2026 in Vietnam. The platform also directly produces Vietnamese-language signals for 13 disciplines: Valorant, League of Legends, Free Fire, Dota 2, Teamfight Tactics, PUBG, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Women, PUBG Mobile, Honor of Kings World Cup, Chess, Counter-Strike 2, and CrossFire.

EWC 2026 marked the presence of Vietnamese representatives across several disciplines. Team Flash competed in Honor of Kings and Chess; their Honor of Kings team exited at the Play-in stage, and Grandmaster Le Quang Liem concluded his journey in the top 21-22. In Teamfight Tactics, Virtus.Pro advanced to the quarterfinals, finishing in the top 8. For League of Legends, Team Secret and GAM Esports were eliminated after the group stage.

Notably, Vietnamese representatives in PUBG: Battlegrounds delivered strong performances, with The Vicious securing the runner-up position. AG AL and GAM Esports ranked 14th and 15th, respectively. Meanwhile, Team Flash in PUBG Mobile reached the finals, finishing in 7th place. These results highlight the increasingly diverse presence of Vietnamese Esports on the international stage.

FPT Play actively tailored content experiences for Vietnamese audiences. Millions of fans had the opportunity to follow the most exciting competitions of EWC 2026. With 33 million views and 1,260 hours of watch time, these figures demonstrate the tournament's appeal and the growing interest of Vietnamese viewers.

Behind the broadcasts, FPT Play's production and commentary teams worked to help audiences better understand the match developments, strategies, and emotions behind each game.

A highlight of the EWC 2026 journey in Vietnam involved community engagement activities, which FPT Play and FanG implemented alongside the broadcasts. At Hobby Horizon, a large annual festival for technology, gaming, anime, cosplay, and youth culture in Vietnam, fans gathered at a viewing party to watch the League of Legends finals on a big screen. The event drew thousands of spectators who cheered live.

As a digital entertainment platform, FPT Play stated its commitment to connecting online and offline experiences, from matches and interactive content to communal viewing sessions. This initiative forms part of FPT Play's ongoing development strategy for its esports ecosystem.

According to the unit, the engagement from the gaming and esports community throughout EWC 2026, especially among young audiences, further demonstrates the appeal and growth potential of esports in Vietnam. "This serves as motivation for FPT Play to continue investing in FanG and community-focused content and activities," a representative stated.

The unit also announced that in Quarter III and Quarter IV of 2026, FPT Play and FanG will introduce a new esports platform targeting the youth community, especially students. This platform will offer players opportunities to compete, connect, gain experience, and express their individuality. Initial details about this new platform will be announced soon.
