Alexander Bublik secured his eighth career title on 23/9, defeating French opponent Valentin Royer 7-6, 7-6 in a thrilling two-tiebreak final at the Hangzhou Open. The Kazakhstani player joins an elite group, becoming only the second player this year, alongside Carlos Alcaraz, to win titles on all three surfaces: hard, grass, and clay.
This remarkable run of form has seen Bublik claim 4 titles this year. Focusing solely on ATP Tour events, the 28-year-old has emerged victorious in his last three tournaments: the Swiss Open, the Austrian Open, and the Hangzhou Open.

These consistent performances have propelled Bublik to a career-high ranking of 16th in the world. He currently sits 11th in the race to the ATP Finals, with 2,370 points, just 775 points behind Alex De Minaur in 8th place.
Such achievements were perhaps unexpected, even for Bublik himself. While his talent was undeniable, his fiery temperament, past penalties, and controversial statements had alienated many fans, with some even labeling him a "failed Nick Kyrgios".
"I absolutely hate tennis. I hate having to play every day. Honestly, I don't see any positives in being a tennis player," Bublik said in a 2023 interview. "I'm only in it for the money. I don't think I've earned enough yet. Otherwise, I would have retired already."
However, Bublik's perspective has shifted. At Roland Garros, he admitted to "feeling a greater love for and enjoyment of tennis." By embracing a more professional approach while retaining his improvisational style, he's winning over fans.
Fans can watch Bublik compete this week at the China Open, which begins today, 25/9.
