Harry Kane's two goals against Borussia Dortmund propelled him to 45 goals across all competitions this season, marking a career-best achievement. Of these, the English striker has netted 30 goals in 24 Bundesliga matches.
In the 2020-2021 season, Robert Lewandowski, then playing for Bayern, set a Bundesliga record by scoring 41 goals in one season, surpassing the nearly half-century-old mark of 40 goals held by legend Gerd Muller. At the same point in that season, after 24 matches, the Polish striker had scored 31 goals, one more than Kane's current tally.
When asked after the Dortmund match whether he was targeting Lewandowski's record, Kane responded, "Absolutely. I just need to continue doing what I am doing."

The two goals yesterday against Dortmund also helped Kane reach several other milestones. The English striker extended his perfect penalty record in the Bundesliga to 24 consecutive successful attempts, including 10 penalty goals this season. This achievement matches a record from the 1980-1981 season set by Paul Breitner.
Kane also extended his scoring streak to seven consecutive matches across all competitions, including five consecutive Bundesliga games. He further became the first player to score a brace in four consecutive Bundesliga matches since Lothar Emmerich did so for Dortmund in 1967 and Tomislav Maric replicated the feat for Wolfsburg in 2001.
"There are still many matches ahead", Kane stated regarding the possibility of breaking more records. "I need to maintain consistency during this period. By late april, early may, we will know if it is feasible. But for now, I am just focused on doing my job well".
Bayern's 3-2 victory over Dortmund extended their lead at the top of the table to 11 points. However, Kane believes the Bundesliga title race is not yet over. "We had an 11-point lead a few weeks ago, and things can change very quickly after just two matches. So, the entire team must remain focused", the 32-year-old striker expressed.

Meanwhile, Joshua Kimmich was more confident about maintaining their advantage. "We will not lose an 11-point lead", he affirmed. "No team has ever lost such a lead, and it will not happen this time either".
The German midfielder attributed Bayern's comeback victory to their fighting spirit. "We faced many difficulties for a long time. The first half was very intense, constantly interrupted by fouls and set-pieces, so we could not find our rhythm", he analyzed. "In the second half, the match flowed better. At halftime, we understood Dortmund would struggle to maintain that intensity for 90 minutes, especially given their busier schedule. Towards the end, the advantage shifted to us, and fortunately, the team capitalized on it".
Coach Vincent Kompany also praised the quality of the match. The Belgian coach stated, "Today was truly tense. You could feel Dortmund's determination to seize their opportunities throughout the 90 minutes. Even when the score was 2-2, they still pushed for a goal. But Bayern did not back down. We continued to create chances. In my opinion, this was a typical Bundesliga match: high intensity, many goals, and above all, the desire to win from both teams".
On 6/3, Bayern will return home to face Gladbach in Bundesliga matchday 25, then travel to Atalanta four days later for the first leg of the champions league round of 1/8.
