The VnExpress Marathon Can Tho 2025 is the first VM race in the southwestern region of Vietnam, marking an expansion after 7 years of development in major cities in central and northern Vietnam. This is also the 10th city to host a VnExpress Marathon.

The event took place on 14/9, beginning with the 42km race at 2:30 a.m. Race kit distribution was held on 12/9 and 13/9 at Song Hau Park. Initially expecting only 6,000 to 7,000 participants, the event saw an unexpected surge in registrations as soon as the Super Early Bird tickets went on sale. Over 9,000 runners registered for the official races.

The organizers hope Can Tho will replicate the success of developing a sports community, similar to previous VM events in Hue, Quy Nhon, Nha Trang, and Ho Chi Minh City.

All races started and finished at Song Hau Park. The finish line for the 42km race was located at Binh Thuy Square, with transportation arranged to bring runners back to the starting point. For dimly lit sections of the course, over 100 Xanh SM electric vehicles provided illumination for runner safety, a solution effectively employed in previous VM races.

Another highlight was the start of the 5km race at 5:30 a.m., where over 200 doves were released simultaneously with the runners, symbolizing new beginnings.
