This marks the second consecutive season Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has won Europe's top club competition since the 27-year-old superstar's departure. In a post-final commentary, Cristina Cubero, a journalist for Mundo Deportivo, suggested that coach Luis Enrique built a more cohesive squad after Mbappe transferred to Real Madrid.
The Spanish coach sought a locker room not dominated by oversized egos, aiming for every player to serve the collective philosophy. "What is Mbappe thinking?", read the headline of the article in the Barcelona-based newspaper.
"At the current PSG, it's all for one, and one for all," Cubero wrote. "The image of a banner in the PSG stands depicting a headless figure embracing the Champions League trophy symbolizes the success of the entire team rather than an individual star."

On social media, Mbappe also became the target of numerous taunts. The account Llourinho posted on X: "Mbappe is watching PSG win their second Champions League without him, and a few minutes later sees his girlfriend Ester Exposito with rapper Bad Bunny. He will remember this night forever."
@vini fc also wrote: "Mbappe is being mocked across all social media, while his girlfriend Ester Exposito is rumored to be flirting with Bad Bunny."
Mbappe played for PSG from 2017 to 2024, securing 15 team titles, six Ligue 1 top scorer awards, and a club record of 256 goals. However, the relationship between the French national team captain and the Paris club deteriorated after he joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2024.
After PSG's 4-3 penalty shootout victory over Arsenal in the 2026 Champions League final, PSG fans poured into the streets of Paris to celebrate. Below the Eiffel Tower, dozens of people chanted obscenities about Mbappe. Max Steph commented: "No one benefited more from Mbappe's move to Madrid than Luis Enrique and PSG. This video will go down in history."
The wave of reactions also appeared on Reddit, where user playerforlife123 posted the video. Some members suggested that this action reflected fan frustration with Mbappe's departure from the club.
Silent-Chemist-1919 commented: "I still remember PSG fans standing by Mbappe after Euro 2020, when the rest of France made him a scapegoat. The club did many things wrong, but the fans were most hurt by Mbappe's exit."
However, many opinions suggested that these chants originated from a small group. pi0t3r remarked: "Sounds like only a few dozen people in a crowd of over one thousand," while Bolieve_That argued that such videos are often overgeneralized and do not represent all PSG supporters.
Ironically, amidst the mockery, Mbappe still concluded his Champions League campaign as the tournament's top scorer, with 15 goals. He scored one more goal than Harry Kane, who was in second place. This achievement also became a subject of debate. Many users reiterated that PSG has won the Champions League for two consecutive seasons since Mbappe's departure. EnzanRui91 commented: "PSG without Kylian = two consecutive championships."
Meanwhile, Real Madrid won the Champions League in 2024, before Mbappe joined. In the two seasons with the 27-year-old star, the club failed to win any major titles. Mbappe, however, maintained an impressive individual record with 86 goals in 103 matches and two consecutive La Liga top scorer awards.
