Runners from 52 nations to compete in VnExpress Da Nang International Marathon Herbalife Cup

The VM Da Nang 2026 welcomes 13,000 runners, including over 1,000 international athletes from 52 countries, offering a city-river-sea-mountain route, ranking among Vietnam's most highly anticipated marathons.

The opening ceremony of the VnExpress Da Nang International Marathon Herbalife Cup, held at noon on 17/7 at East Sea Park, revealed impressive participation figures. Le Van Anh, a representative of the organizing committee, highlighted the third edition's remarkable growth, setting a new participant record with an increase of one and a half times compared to 2025. Positioned as an international event, the race attracted over 1,000 international runners from 52 countries, including elite athletes from Kenya, Ethiopia, Japan, and various European nations.

The participation of international runners elevates the event's competitive standards. Elite athletes, both foreign and domestic, are expected to create an exciting contest. Additionally, amateur runners will serve as "tourism ambassadors," showcasing the city's vibrant energy and scenic beauty.

Tao Viet Hai, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, noted that the 13,000 runners underscore the robust growth of the running movement and the strong appeal of both the VnExpress Marathon brand and the coastal city of Da Nang.

The city's sports leadership described the 19/7 event as a major festival, eagerly anticipated by residents. It is expected to foster a love for running and promote Da Nang's image as a graceful, open, friendly, and hospitable city.

Regarding the professional organization, Hai highlighted the VnExpress Marathon's extensive experience in managing Vietnam's largest race series, consistently prioritizing professionalism, safety, and appeal. A key feature of the race is its route, which crosses three iconic bridges: Dragon, Thuan Phuoc, and Tran Thi Ly, and offers a unique city-river-sea-mountain panorama. Hai considers it one of Vietnam's most beautiful and engaging courses, allowing athletes to connect with nature and experience the city's dynamic rhythm.

"With the combined efforts of the government, organizing committee, sponsors, and community, I am confident that VM Da Nang will be one of Vietnam's most highly anticipated marathons," affirmed the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

To accommodate the large number of runners, the organizing committee announced an expanded expo area at East Sea Park. This year's expo boasts a record 54 booths, offering 13,000 runners a space to engage in activities, play minigames, and receive gifts and special offers from partner brands including: Herbalife, Puma, Velosar, Kiri, Garmin, and Coco Xim.

This year's race-kit is more comprehensive, packed with useful items for runners. Athletes participating in the 42km distance will receive up to 11 items.

For the race course, the organizing committee confirmed that all four distances will start and finish at Tien Son Sports Palace, aiming to create a more vibrant atmosphere. Comprehensive plans for traffic management and security have been implemented to ensure a smooth experience for all 13,000 runners.

"I believe 13,000 runners will share beautiful moments and unforgettable memories as they stride along Da Nang's routes," stated Le Van Anh. She also expressed her hope that VM Da Nang will become a "magnet" attracting runners every July, adding, "Hopefully next year, the number of athletes can reach 20,000."

Over the past four years, the brand has promoted healthy activity and balanced nutrition to hundreds of thousands of individuals.

"Through VM Da Nang, we aim for all 13,000 runners to have the best experience, further contributing to fostering a dynamic and positive lifestyle within the community," Dat remarked.
