The preliminary round this year ran from 10/3 to 31/3, featuring over 250 nominations across four categories. Vote counts increased rapidly each week, climbing from over 100,000 after the first week to over one million after two weeks, and finally closing at over 1,8 million. This year's preliminary round garnered over 500,000 more votes than the previous season, which recorded approximately 1,3 million.
"This result highlights the expanding reach of the Vietnam Game Awards each season. It also signals growing reader interest in Vietnamese game products, development teams, and the value the industry creates," a representative of the organizing committee stated.

According to the program's rules, preliminary round results will be determined by a 50% reader vote and a 50% expert council score. However, five awards for community, individual, and auxiliary services will be 100% decided by readers.
Following the preliminary round, three to five top-scoring nominations in each category will advance to the finals, scheduled from 7/4 to 21/4. For this round, final results will be based on 30% reader votes and 70% expert council scores. However, the outstanding Vietnamese indie game and outstanding game developer awards will be judged 100% by the Jury Council. The "most favorite" awards will continue to be decided entirely by community votes.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for 8/5 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City, within the framework of the Vietnam Game Festival - Vietnam GameVerse 2026.
This year's event, themed "Do Local - Go Global", anticipates attracting over 50,000 attendees. The organizing committee has also introduced professional esports tournaments, including the Southeast Asia Esports Cup and FC Mobile Invitation Cup 2026, while expanding the business-to-business (B2B) and independent game developer zones.
The program is jointly organized by the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information, VnExpress newspaper, and the Vietnam Game Alliance.
