Vietnam Game Jam 2026 opens registration with a 150 million VND prize

Garena is hosting the Vietnam Game Jam for the first time in Vietnam, offering a practical platform for the country's emerging game development talent.

Registration for Vietnam Game Jam 2026 officially began on 25/5. This marks Garena's inaugural game creation event in Vietnam, following its successful rollout in markets such as Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, and Taiwan.

The program targets Vietnam's game development community, including university and academy students pursuing game careers, as well as individuals and teams with experience from indie or professional game development studios. Participants will demonstrate product thinking, technical capabilities, teamwork, and creative ingenuity in a real-world environment.

During Vietnam Game Jam 2026, teams will have 48 hours to develop a new game, from ideation and gameplay design to programming and completing a playable product. This challenge, marked by limited time and high pressure, demands not just creative ideas but also resource prioritization, coordination, and quick decision-making to transform concepts into tangible products. This embodies the core spirit of a Game Jam: encouraging participants to push boundaries and showcase their game development skills in a practical environment.

Following registration and application review, the program will select 20 teams to compete live in TP HCM over three days, from 3-5/7. Participants can register as teams. Individuals without a team can also register to find suitable teammates through the program's connection system.

In addition to a total cash prize of 150 million VND, Vietnam Game Jam 2026 offers participants the opportunity to meet game industry experts, judges, and mentors. The organizers aim for the program to become a hub for connecting the young game development community and providing participants with practical insights into product production and operation processes.
